General Features
Thermotar residential downflow package units are designed for direct expansion (DX) systems and residential applications.
These units provide a complete, compact, and reliable air conditioning solution. They integrate the main refrigeration, evaporation, condensation, and air-handling components into a single unit.
The downflow configuration allows both supply and return air connections through the bottom of the unit. This makes them suitable for installations on platforms, bases, or duct systems located beneath the unit.
The units are available in different capacities and electrical configurations. They can also be adapted to different refrigeration options according to the requirements of each application.
Cabinet Features
The cabinet is manufactured from pre-painted galvanized steel sheet. Its construction provides mechanical strength, durability, and corrosion protection.
Its compact design also facilitates access to internal components for inspection and service.
The internal arrangement of the different sections allows the components to be efficiently integrated. This configuration also facilitates connection to the air distribution system located beneath the unit.
Air-Handling System
The evaporator section incorporates a centrifugal blower. This component provides the airflow and static pressure required by the application.
The system configuration directs conditioned air toward the bottom discharge. This allows the air to be distributed through the ductwork installed beneath the unit.
Blower selection depends on unit capacity, airflow, and external static pressure. The specific operating conditions of each installation are also taken into consideration.
The condensing section uses axial fans. These provide the airflow required through the condenser coil and allow heat to be rejected to the outdoors.
Compressors
The units are available with Scroll compressors. These are selected according to unit capacity and the specified refrigerant.
The refrigeration system is designed to provide reliable and efficient operation in residential applications.
Evaporator and Condenser Coils
The units incorporate Thermocoil® coils manufactured with copper tubes and aluminum fins. Their design provides efficient heat transfer and reliable performance.
The evaporator coil cools and dehumidifies the air, while the condenser coil rejects the heat removed from the conditioned space to the outdoors.
Optional copper-tube/copper-fin configurations can also be supplied. Anticorrosion coatings are also available for highly corrosive environments or coastal applications.
Air Filtration System
The evaporator section can incorporate air filters according to the indoor air quality requirements of each application.
The filter location also facilitates inspection, cleaning, and replacement.
Available Refrigerants
The units can be configured for R-410A, R-32, R-454B, and R-290.
Refrigerant selection depends on unit capacity as well as the technical and regulatory requirements of each application.
