General Features

Thermotar commercial Downflow package units are designed for direct expansion (DX) systems. They are suitable for commercial and industrial applications that require an integrated, robust, and reliable air-conditioning solution.

Their Downflow configuration integrates the main components of the refrigeration, evaporation, condensation, and ventilation systems into a single unit. In addition, it allows conditioned air to be discharged vertically downward.

This allows the unit to connect to lower ductwork, plenums, or roof curb bases. This configuration is especially useful when the air distribution system is located beneath the unit.

The units are available in different capacities and refrigeration configurations. Therefore, they can be adapted to the design conditions of each project.

Cabinet Features

The cabinet is manufactured from pre-painted galvanized steel. This material provides mechanical strength, durability, and corrosion protection.

Its construction also facilitates access to internal components for inspection and service.

The internal arrangement of the different sections allows the components to be efficiently integrated. It also simplifies connection to air distribution systems through bottom discharge.

Ventilation System

The evaporator section incorporates centrifugal blowers selected according to the required airflow and static pressure.

System configuration depends on unit capacity and required airflow. External static pressure and the specific installation conditions are also considered.

Conditioned air is discharged vertically downward through the Downflow configuration. As a result, it can be distributed through lower ductwork, plenums, or roof curb systems.

The condensing section uses axial fans to provide the airflow required through the condenser coil.

This arrangement allows the system to properly reject heat to the outdoor environment.

Compressors

The units are available with Scroll compressors. Compressor selection depends on system capacity and the specified refrigerant.

Depending on the required capacity, the unit may incorporate one or multiple compressors. It can also be configured with multiple independent refrigeration circuits.

This provides greater design flexibility and improved capacity control.

Evaporator and Condenser Coils

The units incorporate Thermocoil® coils manufactured with copper tubes and aluminum fins. Their design provides efficient heat transfer and reliable operation.

The evaporator coil performs the cooling and dehumidification of the air. Meanwhile, the condenser coil rejects the extracted heat to the outdoor environment.

Optional copper/copper coils are also available. Anti-corrosion coatings can also be supplied for highly corrosive environments or coastal applications.

Filtration System

The evaporator section can incorporate air filters selected according to the indoor air quality requirements of each project.

Their location also facilitates inspection, cleaning, and replacement.

Available Refrigerants

The units can be configured for R-410A, R-32, R-454B, and R-290. Refrigerant selection depends on unit capacity, project conditions, and applicable technical requirements.
